We all know actors from African-American heritage have made a mark in the Hollywood cinema industry; and there are currently many actors from the black community trying to excel. Let’s have look at the cream of the churn on what African-American actors have to offer.

Denzel Washington

Surely at top of list of famous black people in United States of America is Denzel Washington. His role of “Malcolm X” in 1990s is a life time classic which one cannot forget easily. Denzel has been awarded the academy award twice in his career, including the best actor trophy for the 2001 movie; Training Day. Denzel, 59, is still working hard as ever and has said that he would like to work as an actor till he is 80 years old.

Morgan Freeman

He has played god, he was the only guilty inmate at Shaw shank, he is Batman’s go to guy and he has played Nelson Mandela on screen. Morgan has done everything and still this list doesn’t include his best performance; this was in the movie Million Dollar Baby. With his meek voice and calm acting approach, Morgan has established himself as one of the best actors of his generation. He is not a person whom you will find in the magazine of black celebrity gossip; such is this man dedication towards work.

Samuel L. Jackson

The whole Jules Winnfield character in Pulp Fiction was based on Samuel, such the demeanor of this person’s attitude is. He has acted in many critically acclaimed movies in the 1990s and nowadays is the face of Marvel’s Avengers series via his character; Nick Fury. His work in Die Hard with a Vengeance and Unbreakable working together with Bruce Willis was highly appreciated by cinema goes all around the world. Jackson was part of many civil rights movements early in his career. Recently Samuel was voted as one of the most famous African Americans ever to live on earth.

Forest Whitaker

The 6’ 2’’ actor versatility is well known among all people in the Hollywood industry. This was attested by his performance as the Ugandan dictator Idi Amin in the movie The Last King of Scotland. For this Forest won various awards for his acting skills but most importantly he won the prestigious Academy Award for best actor. His recent movie, The Butler, Forest also received critical acclaim for his acting skills. Forest has also directed and produced few films in the past and maybe after retiring from acting he might take up this profession seriously.

Will Smith

Last but not the least at all, Will is an actor, producer and rapper. Recently Newsweek called him the most powerful actor of Hollywood and the paparazzi always try to put Will in their latest celebrity news column such the influence it can create. In his early career he was a rapper and the acting bug bit him, which was good for us. His portrayal of Muhammad Ali in the movie Ali brought him innumerous critical and commercial acclaim; he was also nominated for the Academy Award for best actor.
